ASSIGMENT 1: EVOLUTION OF COMMUNICATION

EVOLUTION OF COMMUNICATION

1993
Established Okaya Systemware (OSW)
Began an information device development company in the mobile phone industry with Gontaro Kitazumi.
 Developed & supplied HP100/200LX, a Japanese driver software created by original PDA HP (Achieved domestic sales of 35,000 units and 50 % market share; for 5 ysears).
 Started an original development focus on “the Infrared Communication” (communication function of HP100/200LX).


1994
IrDA Infrared Data Association
Took part as a board member
 Since then Gontaro Kitazumi has been related in various realizations of the standardization. Currently, he serves as vice president of the IrDA technical committee and also engage in co-authoring IrDA technical textbooks, academic papers, column in magazines and feature articles. He is an international technical expert, leading the IrDA industry with the knowledge of communications, micro computers and embedded technology.


1995
Co-development of Infrared built-in public telephone with NTT
The Announcement of new products “LEGASIC®” and DeepCore®Ver1.0
“LEGASIC®” has put into practice an easy solution for IrDA communication and “DeepCore®Ver1.0” protocol software based on IrDA communication standards.

 Started a license business in “LEGASIC®” for industrial uses and “DeepCore®Ver1.0” with printer for business uses and handy terminal.

1996
Development of IrTran-P Infrared Picture Transfers
(The development of picture transfer communication standards)


1997
Development of IrMC Infrared Mobile Communication
(The development of personal wireless communication system)

1998
Experience Bluetooth
 Adoption of IrMC standardization in a mobile phone profile for Bluetooth/ IrDA possessions and used OBEX for Data Exchange/ Object Exchange.
Completed an IrDA protocol stack with IrMC standards and provided solutions.
 Started development of built-in infrared communication, using mobile phones with NTT DoCoMo and Fujitsu


1999
IrWW Infrared Wrist Watch System development with infrared data exchange for wrist watches
Gontaro Kitazumi was nominated as the IrDA technical committee vice president by an architecture council (Technical Committee Co-Chair Protocol).
 A a lot of experience is needed with confirmed technology to communicate with different devices. The knowledge of each device's operation systems (OS) or LSI architectures are necessary. By overcoming these problems, we have developed libraries and drivers with the support of companies like NTT and Sony. We have contributed to the development of IrDA standardization through the product development utilizing compatible connections.


2000
Established Link Evolution Co., Ltd
 Established the Link Evolution Co., Ltd. Leading technical development properties, development of personnel and set business rights, and other such responsibilities. Funds were provided by venture capitalist who entrusted Gontaro Kitazumi.


2001
Announcement of new product development “IrMC” in November 2001.(products for general markets)
“IrGEAR®” is a PDC mobile phone adapter compatible with IrMC.
 Since then, the OEM sales started due to the compatibility with module technology.
Published a concept for real financial system protocol (IrFM Infrared Financial Messaging) in January 2001.
 VISA International etc.
Decided the implementation of the infrared communication for the NTT DoCoMo mobile phone 504i series
 Our middleware was implemented into “Sony Erickson mobile phone”.


2002
Announcement of the “IrStick®” in January 2002.
“IrStick®” is a USB infrared port for the PC utilizing IrDA/USB bridge technology.

2004
Transfer of Infrared business from Link Evolution to ITX E-globaledge in December 2004.
 The start of ITX E-globaledge Link Evolution.


2005
”IrSimple” which was co-proposed & co-developed by NTT-DoCoMo, Sharp. Waseda University and ITX E-globaledge was formally accepted by the Infrared Data Association (an industrial standardization committee).


2006
Started sale of Infrared Controller Chips “EGFIR”.
Gontaro Kitazumi was elected president of an IrDA association.
